One of Metamora's esteemed citizen ducks stranded in the frozen canal recently was rescued early one recent morning by new Metamora shop owner Lloyd Stamper (Lloyd's Photography).
The duck apparently had some form of injury preventing his escaping the ice by flying. The ice was so slippery that the duck could not get a foot-hold to get himself out.
Lloyd risked his own safety by getting close enough to the duck to help him to the side of the canal, then pulled the duck out of the canal. After rescue, the duck appeared to be fine strutting up and down the canal.
Stop by Lloyd's and tell him congratulations!
